Glapwell 1 Market Drayton Town 3

Three cracking first half goals and a gritty combined effort, particularly after the break, brought Town a well deserved victory at Glapwell.
Coming hot on the heels of their 1-0 midweek success at Loughborough this result gave notice to Town supporters that their team have recovered from that disastrous 5-1 home defeat by Grantham Town on the opening day of the season.
And it came against a Glapwell outfit who, while very welcoming to Drayton's travellers off the pitch, were clearly determined to send them packing without a point from their visit.
Town were able to bring in more players from their ill and injured list and it showed as a generally stronger squad maintained control for much of the game.
They started well, with a defence that was to prove awesome for one dodgy period of the second half, quickly putting their stamp on the game.
Town took the lead with Tom Rogers collecting what's rapidly becoming a trademark surprise strike.
On 11 minutes, he added Andy Richmond to the growing number of goalkeepers he's caught out with his ability to float accurate long range shots into the far corner of the net from a tight angle.
Glapwell tried to reply but Town had their tails up and their hard running midfield and strike force willingly tackled back to help close down any danger.
Town's own attacks continued to threaten Glapwell and after another hard fought, entertaining half-hour, two more goals came in the crucial closing minutes before the break.
Nicky Porter pounced for Town's second on 40 minutes and when Duncan Horler made it 3-0 just two minutes later, it seemed as though Town were all but home and dry.
It were not of course. Glapwell came out all guns blazing after the break, deservedly cutting the leeway when sub Conor Higginson scored with a close-in shot.
With former Stafford, Northampton and Hereford striker Neil Grayson showing he can still be a handfull, they might have had more in a dangerous burst of activity around the Town goal.
But first Grayson and then Ian Brown missed good chances and with Drayton's back four of Jason Francis, Paul McMullen, Grant Goodhead and Gary Anslow in great form and the whole side battling hard, Town gradually regained control to finish impressively with a string of attacks that almost brought a fourth goal.
"It was another great away performance to silence those critics who seemed intent on writing us off in the UniBond League after that opening day setback," said manager Simon Line.
"Our lads all worked very hard and to score three goals in the first half was a tremendous achievement.
"Glapwell changed their line-up after the break and that caused us some problems for a little while.
"But the lads showed that they can succeed at this level by adapting well and we finished a hard fought and entertaining game well worth the three points."
