Market Drayton Town 2 Witton Albion 1

Three cracking goals, twice as many stunning saves, great defensive work, spirited, skilled attacking play, an enthusiastic crowd of 229 and, above all, signs that Lady Luck might at last be smiling Town's way.
Certainly the Witton fans thought she favoured the Greenfields lads in this encounter, bemoaning two shots that hit the bar, a couple of blatent misses and a string of fine saves by Town skipper Andy Pryce, three of them real blinders at key stages of the game.
First the keeper flew high to flip over a rifled long range effort, then he went full stretch left to keep the ball out at the foot of his post making another spectacular swallow dive at the right-hand stick.
Real Match of the Day stuff. But that does no justice to the way Town deservedly won whatever rub of the green was going in another spirited, battling performance.
Still short of several key players through injury, Town prevailed with a willingness to go that extra yard against a very handy-looking Witton outfit.
Their reward was third place in the Unibond League south - an undreamed of position just a few days before when that dame of fortune was heaping all manner of misfortunes on their heads.
Manager Simon Line made changes from the side that won 3-1 at Glapwell the previous Saturday - some of them forced - the most notable being the inclusion of big striker Mark Grice.
Both sides gave good value from the start, Grice and Martyn Davies forming a promising partnership up front while their team-mates combined to curb Witton's obvious talents.
It took 58 minutes to bring a breakthrough, former AFC Telford favourite Steve Foster driving home one of the raking crosses that were a trademark of Witton's good work down both flanks.
But Town were on terms just three minutes later with an even better effort, Duncan Horler rising high in a crowded goalmouth to bullet the ball past keeper Joe Clegg in text book style from a corner.
This triggered perhaps Town's most coheasive attacking spell. They worked the ball well and might have had another couple but the ball ran unkindly for Grice as he was about to shoot and Davies was twice blocked desperately when well placed.
From there on in, it was a battle for the bravehearted - helped in no small measure by some sensible refereeing from the vertically challenged Mr M D'Aguilar who, like the players, seemed to grow in stature as the game raced on at a breakneck pace.
Both sides had their chances before Town got their decider. Davies and sub Tom Rogers, who had by now forged a lively one-touch, push-and-run attacking partnership on the right, applied more pressure and, with Grice joining in, Davies capped some neat play by accurately lifting the ball over the advancing keeper into the net.
That left Town seven minutes to seal the points. And whatever might be said about seven being a lucky number, they were up to the task without a trace of good fortune.
