Little a large bonus...
So it wasn't AFC Telford after all - but if the luck of the FA Cup draw second round proper didn't quite come up with Drayton's dream fixture, then Gainsborough Trinity at home on Saturday, September 26, was a pretty good substitute.
Trinity promise to bring a touch of the big time to Greenfields in the form of manager Brian Little, the former Aston Villa star player and rather less successful manager.
But Trinity are also well within the target range of top-form Town so the tie holds the promise of being a real stormer for the fans.
It will be worth £4,500 to the winners and Town manager Simon Line and his lads, who gave the bookies a bashing by beating the 5-1 odds against them at Leamington to earn this draw, are looking forward to making chairman Alex Mutch a happy man.
"We all joked about wanting Telford at home in the next round but Trinity are a great alternative," said Liner.
"Any home draw is a great draw in FA Cup terms and with most of the lads fit and well again we'll be going all out to make it another memorable day for our supporters.
"It's an attractive challenge. Trinity have not done very well so far this season in the Blue Square North League but we'll not let that influence us too much.
"With the appointment of Brian Little they seem to have improved - they won 3-0 at Redditch with him in charge for the first time - and they have a new chairman and director of football, Peter Swann, who is putting a lot of money into the club.
"But whatever side they put out against us, we'll be up for it... we want to get on and who knows, then meet Telford in the next round!"
Telford, by the way, have one of the plum ties in the round - at home to Pegasus Juniors from Hereford who were not the most formidable team to be left in the draw.
Town have a crop of cup ties to cope in the next few weeks anyway.
After UniBond League South games at Kidsgrove on Tuesday evening and at home to Quorn on Saturday the 19th, they are at Rushall Olympic in the League Challenge Cup on Tuesday the 22nd before the FA Cup date on the 26th - with another home knock-out attraction, against Bamber Bridge in the FA Carling Trophy on October 3.
